Silver Rainbows new group for older LGBT community

Who are we?

Silver Rainbows’ is a group of older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgender & Intersex (LGBTI) people living in the West of Ireland who came together in September 2013 to form an advocacy and support network for members of our community.

What do we do?

Our objectives are

  • To establish and maintain a network for members of the LGBT community who are 50 years or older, or who can identify with issues affecting people of that age

  • To provide a forum where members can explore and discuss issues regarding active ageing and accessing services

  • To work in partnership with the Board of Amach! LGBT Galway Ltd and other relevant organisations to address issues with agencies and service providers

  • To reduce isolation by encouraging and facilitating social networking and events in a safe environment, and by offering peer support

  • To promote personal development, facilitate education and raise awareness about LGBT specific needs and ageing

  • To support and facilitate intergenerational activities

How can you get involved?

Silver Rainbows’ is open to all members of the LGBT community in Galway and neighbouring counties who are 50 years or older or who can identify with issues affecting people of that age. You can get involved by coming along to our next event. For details please email us at silverrainbows50@gmail.com

We look forward to meeting you!
